Such a Love Affair.......

My love affair with Steve continues to grow.  I can't tell you how much I love sewing!  It's such a great feeling to take that blank canvas of cloth and create something lasting.  I love making clothes and then wearing them.  It's fabulous!

Here is my finished apron

I had to finish the straps different because they weren't long enough, but it works anyway and I really like it a lot!  This picture doesn't do it justice.

This is what I did today.  I whipped up this simple housedress.

You can't tell in the pictures, but the fabric is a navy with a tiny green check in it.  Very pretty and I promise that in person it doesn't make me look pregnant!  LOL!  It's the first time I've done inset pockets and I'm thrilled with how they came out!
I LOVE it!  It's so comfy and simple and pretty and I enjoy wearing it.  I don't wear dresses or skirts that often, but I do feel like such a girl when I wear them which is a nice way to feel once in awhile!

This is a blouse I made a couple weeks ago.  Soon to be Mrs. Neighbor came over and we were working on some sewing.  She is a fantastic clothing designer but she doesn't know the basics of pattern reading.  I'm glad to say that I'm teaching her what little I know.  We have a lovely visit and talk about marriage and Faith and things.  It's nice!

Anyway, just wanted to update you on what Steve and I have been up to!

Till next time.... God Bless!

  1. So cool. Your sewing is great...I learned to sew along time ago but I have a hard time finding time to do it...I am learning to make the time to..

I read yesterdays blog just now. Some gave my answer about a local high school music teacher would know if someone was in need...

The best part about your blog from yesterday is that you said you and your hubby do things together...That is how our marriage is. We do everything together and I find alot of people do not understand that..Russ and I are lovers and we are each others best friend.. One of the reasons we left our church is because they were always doing things for men and things for women...Women's retreats and mens retreats... men's breakfast and women's breakfast...we wanted to do things together...we tried forming a group for couples and no one wanted any part of it. It is so good to find people who think like us...Lisa

  2. Amen Lisa! God says in the Bible that when we get married we "become one flesh". That's the way we try to live our lives! We didn't get married to be apart! The 12-14 hours a day we have to be apart while he is at work is plenty! :)

  3. I love your apron. Your dress is really comfy looking too. I like to wear long gypsy looking skirts in a neutral color with colorful tops. I used to sew, many years ago, but sewing makes me tense. I buy most of my clothes from thrift stores. They're almost new and already broken in, not to mention they are cheaper than buying new or making, too.

I do understand the thrill of making your own clothing though, because I did it.

DH and I also enjoy being together and working together. We've worked on lots of projects together in our 40 years of marriage. We enjoy each others company and yes love does get sweeter.

Enjoy your life and all that you do taking care of home and family.

  7. You did a great job on both. Neighbor sounds like me.
I love to sew but can't read a pattern worth a darn. I'm better off to make my own pattern and just wing it.

  8. The apron is beautiful, actually all of your projects are beautiful! I don't sew, other than mending and crafts, it's something I'd like to learn. Wish you were closer, maybe you could teach me?

As you know I feel the same way you do about Mike, and we love to be together all the time. Many of my friends make comments about how they can't wait for their husbands to go back to work, after the weekend and I feel totally opposite, I'm sad Mike has to go back to work.

Keep up the wonderful sewing, you are talented.

    Blessings,
    Kelle

  11. I love the dress! I think it looks very feminine in a simple way. I know you said you really didn't look pregnant in it, and you don't, but it did get me thinking that the next time we have a whoopsie (all my pg's were whoopsie blessings) I may try making one like it since it looks so comfy!
