Soap Days.........Part Deux.........

When we last left The Goodwife she was cannin' beans and makin' soap.  It's now 48  hours later.........lets see what's going on......

Ahhh, it appears that our soap has "soaped"!
This is the soap still in the mold and ready to be removed.  Isn't it purty?

I put down newspaper........

Then a piece of butcher paper over top, to protect my counter.  You don't want to put the soap directly on newspaper cuz the ink can bleed into your fresh soap.

Here I am trying to remove the soap from the mold.  Notice I'm wearing gloves......the soap is still caustic at this point and can burn your skin.  Also notice I used the word "trying".....if this was a Hollywood movie, I'd be played by Jennifer Aniston and that block of soap would pop right out of that mold.....

As you can see, this ain't Hollywood..........so I had to dig the soap out of the mold.  This isn't an issue though because I mill my soap, which means this isn't the finished product, there is another step to do before the soap is finished, so it's all good.

As you can see, (you may have to click on the picture) it already lathers up just beautifully!

Come back in a few days to see what milling means and what we do with the soap next!

Oh yeah, and I made that blouse I'm wearing today.  It was nice to have some time with Steve again.....I've missed him!

Till next time............God Bless!
