Do I Still Like My Shampoo??

Yassiree Bob I do!!

My hair last night before bed...........
I've been using it for over 5 weeks now and I still have enough from the first batch for at least another week.  I made another batch yesterday, so that I wouldn't be scrambling when I run out.

I've also noticed some interesting things about my hair.  It feels more "there".  That's the only way I know to describe it.  It used to feel very slippery and now it feels more textured.  It is also much less oily.  I can now go two full days without a shampoo and my hair doesn't look like you could fry an egg on my head!  Before using this homemade shampoo, I had to shampoo every morning or my hair looked gross!  On the days I don't shampoo, I just rinse my hair with plain water in the shower, and then use my vinegar rinse before I get out.
Once again, it feels really good to use soap, shampoo, and face cream that I'm making myself!

Now if I could only make my own vinegar for my hair rinse...................

God Bless..................

  3. Now Nicole, there are no dumb questions! It's a "mother" culture, sort of like sourdough yeast. I know you can turn cider into vinegar simply be adding unpastureized vinegar to apple cider. I'm not entirely sure how you get the "mother" culture without having vinegar to start with. If I'm wrong, somebody please correct me!

  6. I know cider or wine can be the origin of vinegar but if you start with a culture of some kind, it's beyond me. LOL

I'd like to find somekind of recipe for shampoo for my Lindsay's issue. Her hair is so damaged by her radiation and chemo treatments all those years ago, commerial shampoos only make it worse. There must be something out there that will work for her but I sure haven't found it yet.

  7. Very cool! Glad it's still working out for ya. I can only go two days without washing.

  8. Lovely hair! Next on my list now: make shampoo. What has always worked for me in is to wash once a week with baking soda followed by an ACV rince two days in a row (with a touch of honey added). But I know that doesn't work for everyone.
