Burrees, and Churrees.........

Ordered me up some goodies t'other day!    I ordered some Fragaria virginiana and two Prunus avium.   Hee hee, if you don't know what that means, then how bout if I say I ordered me some straw-burries, and two churree trees!  Still got nuttin?  I'll just show you then.......

I ordered 25 of these......

And two of these.........

They will be joining my little Peach trees......

In our little orchard!

Last year was the first "real" year for my peach trees.  The second year after the planting year.  They were so loaded down with peaches that I thinned all of them off except for about a dozen.  Then either the squirrels stole them or they all fell off except for one on one tree.  That one lonely peach was so juicy and sweet!  I hope to get more this year, and next year to be harvesting cherries and strawberries as well!

God Bless...............

  2. We put in two pie cherry trees two summers ago, one didn't make it so replaed it last Summer. We got a good amount of fruit off the two yr old tree, it was such a blessing!

Peaches won't grow here, but I did find a variety of pears that is supposed to survive our winters, it was developed in Minnesota.

We will be picking up 25 bare root strawberry plants from our local nursery. Our bed was over run with bindweed two summers ago and I worked up a new raised bed last Summer but the plants I transplanted didn't fair well. :o(

Contrats on your order and praying they take root and produce well for you.

    Blessings,
    Kelle

  3. Thanks Triple J Farms! I'm glad too!

@Kelle, I ordered sweet cherry trees. I hope they will can up. I'd rather have sweet cherries to eat rather than pie cherries. I've heard you can can both types. I hope your new plants do well!

  4. My peaches did the same thing last year! We don't get peaches on ours every year - it's a very old tree - and it tends to be the years with cooler springs that they do fruit. Dunno - just hope this year is another fruiting year!

  6. your cherry tree... be careful or the birds will steal them all! That's what happened with ours last year :(, luckily we got a bunch off before that happened. This year will be easier since we are living at the house :) Share the strawberry love with me anytime you feel :)

  9. Mmmm, fresh strawberries! And I'm jealous of the cherry trees - sweet cherries aren't supposed to grow here in WI so we can't plant any.

  10. Yum! Reminds me of the orchard and garden I had at my "old" farm. Fresh strawberries are the best. I had to beat my kids to them if I wanted to make any jam though!

  11. I love having fruit trees. Growing up we had a cherry tree. I would sit out there and eat until I was sick. And my grandparents had the peach trees. Maybe I should look into planting some!

  13. Both look quite nummy. I could do with some of those myself. I've been wanting to plant strawberries but wondered where I'd put them. Now that this winter's killed most everything on one garden, I'm thinking that might be a good spot.
