Going the Distance.........

K so today I attempted the 5 K distance.  No race just covered the miles.  I was able to jog almost the whole way!  Whoo hoo, go me!  I'm not proud of my time 45.36 but so what.......slow and steady wins the race right?  I'm short with short fat legs and less than 6 months ago I couldn't run for 60 seconds without thinking I was going to die!  I walked about the first 5 min to warm up and then I walk/jogged the last 1/2 mile.  I'm glad I tried it and I'm glad I did it.  I'd like to make a point to cover that distance once a week.  I'll do my regular 2 miles the other run days and then one day cover this loop.  It's up hill, down hill, over different terrain which is nice.  It's pretty cool that this loop from my driveway, out into the country, around to the highway, follow it back into town, then the back roads back to my driveway is exactly 3.1 miles so that's awesome!

Anyway, food isn't going to well.........I got nothing to say in my defense in that regard.  I made a poster with my slogan "Half ass efforts yield half ass results and will never get you half your ass!" and hung it up next to the computer.  I also made a poster of No No foods and hung that on the cabinet.

As I've mentioned before, my motis apperandi is losing rather easily, then gaining.  There never seems to be middle ground with me.  It's a super ball.....quickly down, and right back up.  I've never maintained a weight for any length of time....well......I can maintain 230 till the cows come home......of course then I look like one of the cows, but I digress.  I have to take it one day at a time.  I've been really thinking about my triggers and I know what they are, I just don't know how to eliminate them from my life.

Till next time...............I'll be unTHICKINandworkinonTHINNIN!

What a Difference Some Squats Make...........

So yesterday was liftin' day, that makes today a runnin' day.  This is the first time I've ever run after a squat day................can I just get a WOWSA!?!  Big difference in the way my legs and bootay felt today.  I made it though and felt great!  I did have to stop and walk for 60 seconds at the top of the big hill and I don't usually have to do that, but that's ok.  I'm sure that after a coupla weeks of lifting and running I'll be stronger and faster than ever.

This guy was waiting in my front yard to cheer me on when I got home!
I know it's a snappin' turtle and not a tortise but still..........I'm the tortise baby and slow and steady wins the race!  ;)
K........enough of the corn pone.........I got some crunches to do!
Till next time..........I'm unTHICKINandsoTHINNIN!

Half-assin' It!

I've been half-assin' and not even assin' it since March.  MARCH!  Good grief, three months wasted.  Moving on though........if this is for the rest of my life then three months ain't gonna amount to a hill a beans!  Kit's got me motivated and I went for a jog this morning.  25 minutes of pure sweaty bliss.  Why do I not do this at least three days a week?  It never ceases to amaze me that good habits take FOREVER to get a foothold while bad ones are always waiting to creep up behind you and whack you over the head!

I've been doin' some heavy duty re-evaluating in my life and I've decided to downsize on the ole' homestead a bit.  I'm selling off all my kids from this year and will only keep my two older does, my buck, and his wether.  That will have me down to 4 goats from 11 and that will be awesome.  I also have quit milking for right now so all I have to worry about is my big ole' garden.  I love my life and I love what I do, but I'm easily overwhelmed.  I have to cut something out and I don't want it to be my health goals!  I'm also downsizing my chicken herd (yes I know it's supposed to be flock) to around 10 to 15 hens.  I've got over 45 now!

I told The Man yesterday I don't think I'll ever win this war.  Not ever.........that's a defeatist attitude and that's not me.  I may never fully win the war, but if I lay down and quit then I'll for sure never win right?  Right now I feel strong and ready to kick ass!  KICK ASS BABY!  Today was a runnin' day, tomorrow I'll bust out some 80lb squats, push ups, and hit the punchin' bag.  I want this...........I WANT THIS!

Look out, cuz the Goodwife is bringin' her A game.............

WI report...........

Tuesday morning I got on the scale and was down 2.8lbs! Yippe! Actually I'm more thrilled that I tracked every single day last week from Tuesday to Tuesday. This is a very busy time of year for me and will be from now until about October or so which makes it a little harder, though that's just an excuse I know!

On Saturday morning I ran a full two miles in 28 minutes and was oh so very proud of myself.  I know it's really slow, but still I was super psyched!  LOL

Getting back to the basics of WW really helped me and I'm so thankful that I was able to make it a full week OP.

Things are good, I feel good and look forward to this week.

WI Report..........

I'm down 4/10 of a pound this morning, which I don't in any way deserve, but am thankful for anyway.  I had three great days this week and four not so great days.  Three days of training and tracking and four days of not.  When I start my day with a jog, that sets me up to succeed the rest of the day.  When I start my day without any form of exercise, that sets me up to fail.

It sunny, warm and beautiful here.  The birds are signing, the apple trees have burst forth with their lovely blooms and the breeze smells fresh and clean.  I love living in an area where we have 4 distinct seasons.  I get to see my little neck of the woods in every type of weather and I love it.

The Yougun collected some items for her nature journal and is recording them right now.  Life is grand and I'm thankful to be alive to live it!

God Bless!  Till next time.........I'm unTHICKINandsoTHINNIN!

Ok so here we are.........

Tuesday was good.....Wednesday wasn't even worth talking about...........today is going well so far.  I lay in bed last night and planned my day for today and so far so good!  Got up this morning and got Tulip and Star milked, then The Youngun, Miss Neighbor, and I went for a lovely 30 minute jog.  I can't even tell you what a difference it makes in my day to get that jog in.  Then a nice healthy breakfast of a mushroom and onion smothered egg, piece of plain toast, banana, and a 1/2 cup of fresh cold goat's milk.  Delicious!  I've already recorded in my tracker what I'm having for dinner and supper and that feels great too.

I haven't been following my rules lately.  As a matter of fact I've totally been acting like a wild jungle child who doesn't know what rules are!  That's not good for me.  I need structure and rules in my eating life.

Anyway, every day is a new day and as long as you keep trying, then that's all that matters and I will never never give up!

I'm back..........

I've decided I'm going to start posting here again cuz I need it for therapy and cuz I don't want to overwhelm anybody on my other blog with my craziness!

To be totally honest with myself, I've been off track since our home remodel, way back on February 18th or 19th. That's a month that I've been off track. Not seriously, totally, wildly off track, but a day here, or a couple days there. It's keeping me from losing and it's scaring me. The rationalizations I'm giving myself are tenfold and silly, such as........You're a homesteader, homestead women are plump and sturdy........or........you're a stay at home mom and should be nice and fluffy like Mrs. Clause.........RIDICULOUS!!!! The things that my demon trys to convince me of.

Anyway, I'm going back to ridin' the horse that got me here. I'm going back to blogging about my feelings and my weight loss, even if I've really got nothing to say. That's why I quit blogging about it, I was cocky and over confident and felt like I had nothing to report. Well God has slapped me down and let me know that I'm soooo not in control, not at all!! I'm also going back to running and taking time off from lifting weights. Now I know that I blogged all the time about how much I loved lifting weights, and I did and do love it. However, it dramatically slowed my weight loss and that part I didn't like so much, so I think I got discouraged and started letting my old behaviors creep back in. Not good when you've got the food issues that I've got. I'm also recommitting myself to the crunch challenge. I was feeling lean and strong when I was doing 200 crunches a day, and my back didn't hurt at all! I haven't consistently done them in a month and my back is telling me about it. I'm also going to do one more thing that sort of makes me feel like a quitter, but I feel like it's something I need to do. I'm changing my goal weight to 160 lbs. Once I get to 160 then I'm going to concentrate on keeping myself under 161 lbs, without putting myself on maintenance. If I can lose more then that's good but my goal will just be to not gain!!!

So that's where I'm at! I'm ok, still feel good, still love myself, haven't spiraled into the pit of depression or despair. I'm just recommitting myself to making every bite count nutritionally, and if it ain't bringing something to the table in regards to my health, I'm not going to eat it. I had really slacked on that part of things and that makes me mad at myself.

To sum up........I'm worth it, I love myself, I'm strong, determined, and fabulous. I'm a warrior and I'm strapping on my armor once again, can you hear me roaring??

Till next time..............I'm back to unTHICKINandsoreadytobeTHINNIN!

God bless!

Got my sweat on!

So today for the first time in like 2 weeks the temps were out of the single digits or the low teens! Whoo hoo! We are havin' a heat wave here in Illinois! When I went out this morning to do chores the breeze actually felt warm on my face. I can handle the balmy temps of 36 degrees!

I decided that I'd go for a jog after dropping the Youngun off to school. I haven't jogged in two weeks. As some of you know we workout in our shop, which we lovingly call the Hillbilly Hotel. The Hillbilly Hotel isn't heated. I'm sheltered from the wind, but the temp outside is the temp inside. I kept up with my lifting, by just wearing lots of layers and wearing my heavy chorin' gloves to protect my hands from freezin' to the bar! I wasn't jogging though. My poor treadmill could hardly run in temps that cold.

Why is it that nothing, and I do mean NOTHING works my inner thighs like joggin'? It's a fabulous fabulous burn and I love it! I'm always so proud of myself after completing a 30 minute jog. Why you ask? Well because usually the first 10 minutes I want to quit every stinkin' stride! Then I fall into my groove and I'm feeling pretty good for the next 10. Those last 10 I'm usually chanting to myself Don't Quit, Don't Quit, Don't Quit! LOL! I'm pretty sure I was quite a bit faster today than I was the last time I went. I also got a very nice sweat on! I miss sweating, odd as that may sound, but when you are working out, outside and the temperature is 9 degrees, you just can't sweat!

Today I went into town, instead of out of town. What a difference! I got to smell the garbage trucks (which my hubby always says smell like MONEY since that is his profession), car exhaust, the sickly perfumed smell of dryer vents. Ugh! I much prefer the smell of the creek that I cross, the neighbor's cows, and the line of pines that I jog next too!

Well hope you have a fabulous day as well! Till next time.........I'm unTHICKINandsoTHINNIN!
