Tauriel's kits are 3 weeks old now and SO cute. Omygoodness they are so stinking fluffy, I just want to squeeze their little fat faces off!
Ahem, but I digress....This is our mystery kit. I think it's beautiful and am 90% sure it's a buck.....
Below it is shown with one of the black kits, and one of the castor/amber type kits....
Here it is from the rear....
And again with the other two colors of kits....it's on the far left.
And again, but this time with two castor/amber type kits...
And alone....it will pose nicely until I try to pick up the camera....typical kid!
And again from the rear...
Ok my rabbit raising friends! Any ideas? It doesn't really have a ring, perse, like an agouti rabbit should have, but it's really striking and quite lovely!
Also, not sure if this helps, but Tauriel is a pedigreed rabbit and is an Amber. Her dam was a Chocolate, out of two Chocolates, with the 4th generation being Castor to Castor, and Broken Lilac to Chocolate. Her sire was a Castor, out of an Amber and a Red, with the 4th generation being Castor to Castor, and Red to Red.
Spartan is un-pedigreed, and when bred to Eden, a pedigreed Californian, she delivered all Black babies that are developing the silvering of the Silver Fox sire, but not the Silver Fox fur.
So cute! I want to squeeze his fat little face off too, lol! He looks like a gold-tipped steel to me. I had one pop out on from a New Zealand litter years ago when I crossed a red to a white. Rabbit colors can be so neat!
ReplyDeleteYes they are so neat! Thanks for letting us know what you're thoughts are! :) Still waiting on goat babies, but she sure looks closer today!
ReplyDeleteI'm trying to figure out how to post a picture in my response, but I could e-mail you one of my GT steel NZ if you want to compare at some point when the kit is a little bigger. Thanks!
DeleteSure! That would be great! You can email at goodwifefarm@gmail.com
DeleteBreeding rabbits is like a box of chocolates! :D
ReplyDeleteWe once bred a registered NZ with a "full" Cal and got the cutest little calicos.
That's why we like cross breeding! You never know what you'll get! :)
DeleteHendricks Hearth, I was going to guess gold-tipped steel, too. Yay!! I'm starting to learn my rabbit colors! :)
ReplyDeleteGoodwife, all your kits are lovely! I'm so glad they're doing so well. :)
Thanks so much, they are so cute and such fun!
DeleteI agree on gold tipped steel. :) He's cute!
